Injuries
are the leading killer of our children. Traffic injuries. Burns.
Drownings. Falls. Chokings. Unintentional shootings. And poisonings.
They cause more children’s deaths each year than diseases,
kidnapping, and drugs combined. More than 6,700 a year, in fact. And
they disable another 50,000.
We call them accidents, but they’re not, because they can be
predicted – and prevented. It doesn’t cost a lot or take much
time, either. Just the attention and effort of parents and other
caregivers. And that’s where we come in. We’re Connecticut SAFE
KIDS, and our mission is to reduce preventable injuries to children.
