About Safe Kids Connecticut

about.jpgPreventable Injuries are the #1 killer of kids in the United States. While this is a frightening statistic, 90% of childhood injuries and death can be prevented. Safe Kids Connecticut is dedicated to keeping children safe and sound at home, school or at play.

Safe Kids Connecticut, a program based out of the Injury Prevention Center at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford is a statewide network of organizations and individuals who work together to prevent unintentional injury in children ages 0-19.

Safe Kids Connecticut is a multi-faceted organization that works to reduce death and injury rates of children through community education, public policy change, creating safe environments, and conducting research.

Through funding from the Connecticut Elks Association, Safe Kids Connecticut provides safety devices and educational materials to the community. In collaboration with Safe Kids volunteers and members of the Connecticut Elks Association, local Safe Kids coalitions may host safety events that provide safety education and materials such as car seats, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and bike helmets to community members. Typical Safe Kids events include bike rodeos, car seat clinics, safety fairs and other events that bring education directly to the community.

Safe Kids Connecticut has been in existence since 1992. Since day #1, Safe Kids Connecticut has lead the way in keeping local children safe. Our members and volunteers proudly cover a variety of safety topics in the community, including:

  • Child Passenger Safety
  • Bike Safety
  • Water Safety
  • Fire Safety
  • Dog Bite Safety
